Velos 2025.1.SR2 Dairy Farming
This Nedap Velos software version contains new and improved functionalities that provide new solutions, add valuable options to existing solutions and further increase the ease of use of Velos.
Nedap CowControl
Cow Locating
The positioning beacons setup monitoring page, reachable via 'Maintenance > Behaviour components', had several issues, which have now been resolved:
On the tab 'Map', the "Show calibration points" button was missing.
On the tab 'Map', the hover-over text on the map remained continuously active.
On the tab 'Beacons', the reader RSSI hover-over was not functioning correctly—it should now display the dB value as intended.
General
The button to convert a standalone Velos installation into a Nedap Now connected Velos installation no longer appeared on the dashboard. This issue has been resolved.
Although it's not recommended, the Velos API allows pens to be created without a name. If such unnamed pens exist, a standalone Velos installation cannot be converted to a Nedap Now connected installation, as Nedap Now does not permit unnamed pens. Previously, the conversion would fail without explanation. From now on, a clear message will be shown in advance, indicating that the conversion cannot start due to the presence of unnamed pens
When Velos creates an animal and links a tag to it, the tag capabilities were reset at that moment, even if Velos had previously received information about the tag's capabilities. From now on, Velos will use the previously received information, so the tag type linked to the animal is immediately known.
On pages where V-Pack types are displayed, the specific variant of the V-Pack —such as VP1801 or VP1801-B— is indicated. Previously, this was not the case on the page 'Maintenance > Identification', but this has now been corrected.
The 'print' button for tables used to print an extra page containing only the button's tooltip. This extra page is no longer printed.
When Velos is running in Nedap Now mode, the 'Automatic backups' item was no longer part of the checklist in the service widget on the dashboard. This issue has now been resolved.
When Velos is running in Nedap Now mode, 'Internet synchronization' was sometimes shown as item on the checklist in the service widget on the dashboard. This check has now been removed, as this is not required in Nedap Now mode.
When a VPU was reset to factory defaults, an additional restart was required to properly restart the MQTT client. This extra restart is no longer necessary.
When multiple behaviour components connected to different V-Packs all had an antenna error, a system attention was generated for only one of the behaviour components, while the others only showed the error as a warning. This issue has now been resolved.
On pages with selection boxes, the selection boxes that could not be selected were no longer greyed out, making it unclear that they were unavailable for selection. This issue has now been resolved.
The time on a main VPU and a secondary VPU could differ by more than 2 minutes, which caused SSH login using an OTP key to fail. This issue has been resolved by ensuring that the time difference between VPUs can no longer exceed 5 seconds.
During an update, a list of important points to be aware of is shown. The item 'Make sure you need the update' has been removed from this list, as every update is considered necessary—if only to implement changes from a security standpoint.
Taurus
Taurus 6 would completely stop a synchronization if a calving event was added with a specific cycle number, while a calving event for that same cycle already existed in Velos. This issue has now been resolved by first removing the entire cycle from Velos before proceeding with the new calving event. Synchronization then continues as normal.
Taurus 6 was unable to process an animal.csv file if an animal already had a keep open date in Velos and the CSV file contained the same keep open date for that animal. This issue has now been resolved.
Taurus 6 exported milk yields with two decimal places, whereas Taurus 5 used only one decimal place. Taurus 6 has now been adjusted to match the output format of Taurus 5.
