This Nedap Velos software version contains new and improved functionalities that provide new solutions, add valuable options to existing solutions and further increase the ease of use of Velos.

Nedap FarmControl

Feeding

  • The Edit button on the Feeding tab of the Animal overview page was not properly aligned with the Edit buttons of Basic Data and Calendar. This has now been corrected.

Nedap CowControl

Heat Detection and Health Monitoring

  • All potential issues related to tags are now consolidated into a single dashboard widget, making it much easier to get a clear overview of existing problems. Whether it concerns tags that have not yet been linked to an animal, tags that are incorrectly attached, tags from which no data has been received, or tags that have been temporarily muted, all issues are now grouped together in one widget, whereas previously they were scattered across multiple locations. The link in the widget takes you to a single page where all these issues are listed in one place.

  • An additional improvement to tag issue tracking is the introduction of a notification for SmartTags that have been assigned to an animal but from which no data has ever been received. This supports Nedap’s new method of delivering SmartTags Neck. The tags are no longer shipped in radiation-blocking bags; instead, all SmartTags Neck will be shipped in a so-called 'airplane mode', meaning the transmitter of the SmartTag Neck is switched off. After the SmartTag Neck is attached to the cow and the tag has detected normal cow behaviour for approximately 24 hours, the SmartTag will automatically start transmitting, without data loss of those last 24 hours. The new notification serves as a safeguard for rare cases where a tag fails to start transmitting. It is triggered 24 hours after the tag number has been administratively linked to an animal in Velos.

Cow Locating

  • If animals in the system have multiple tags, configured via the 'Settings > General' page, and the Nedap Cow Locating tag was set as the third tag, it could sometimes result in no animals being displayed on the map at all. This issue has now been resolved.

Nedap MilkingControl

  • The detection when an InTouch device must work in standalone mode and switching to that mode is now fully automated. InTouch devices can be connected to either a main VPU or a secondary VPU. Proper communication between the main VPU and secondary VPUs is essential for the milking operation. Under normal circumstances, this communication functions reliably. However, in emergency situations, such as a failure of the main VPU, the InTouch device now switches automatically to standalone mode. While not all features may function as usual in this mode, milking can still continue.

  • The Parlour Monitor page now displays the same notifications as the InTouch device. For example, the 'unknown animal' notification, which previously appeared only on the InTouch, is now also visible on the Parlour Monitor page, ensuring consistency between both interfaces.

General

  • The update process for upgrading Velos to a new version has been significantly improved, making it much easier to stay up to date with the latest features and fixes. Previously, updating Velos was often a lengthy and sometimes cumbersome task, mainly due to the time-consuming and occasionally failing download of the software to the VPU. From now on, the software will be downloaded to the VPU in the background and, if necessary, also pre-distributed to the secondary VPUs in the system. Once this is complete, a notification will appear in the user interface, and completing the update will take no more than a few minutes.

  • Nedap constantly updates the software to prevent security vulnerabilities. In this version some 3rd party libraries have been updated because of vulnerability: CVE-2025-27427. In addition, some other vulnerabilities have also been addressed (#68797/#68961).

  • In the Velos user interface, it is no longer possible to assign an address of 100 or higher to a V-Pack. This change ensures alignment with the V-Packs themselves, which have a two-digit display and therefore cannot properly show addresses above 99.

  • An issue has been fixed in the parallel firmware update process. When updating V-Packs powered in series, the second unit in line would power down while the first was rebooting, occasionally causing the update process to get stuck on the second V-Pack.

  • A problem has been resolved that previously prevented manual registration of a license.

  • On the page 'Maintenance > V-Packs > Power Channels', a device can be selected. After selecting a device on the Inputs tab, the controls to invert an input were missing, and on the Outputs tab, the controls to switch an output on and off were also missing. These issues have now been resolved.

  • Velos no longer incorrectly states that the Export to Nedap Now is not allowed.

  • Several issues have been resolved that were causing problems with data exchange via the Velos .NET interface.

    • Adding a feed container triggered an exception. This functionality has never worked correctly through the .NET interface and was therefore never used. As a result, the method for adding a feed container has now been removed.

    • It is once again possible to retrieve feed intake summaries via the .NET interface.

    • Retrieval of separation results via the .NET interface has also been restored.

    • Additionally, the StandingLyingService is now functioning again within the .NET interface.

Taurus

  • A problem has been resolved in Taurus 6 where animals were being imported even while Velos was operating in Nedap Now mode.

  • When using Taurus 6, the ADIS header was not handled correctly in Velos, which caused the Taurus connection to malfunction in certain applications. This issue has now been resolved.

  • Fixed an issue where Taurus 6 would fail to import a CSV file when an animal has a Keep Open event in a previous lactation cycle

Taurus 6.1

  • Fixed an issue where the installation wizard would use c:\taurus2 by default

  • Fixed an issue where the command to export attentions ( /attentions ) did not work

Firmware

New firmware has been added for the following V-Packs:

  • VP1801: v3.12.07

    • Security updates.

    • VP1801-B gives an error when TagReader didn't start.

    • Fixes for reading InTime SmartTags.
