Velos 2025.3 Dairy Farming

This Nedap Velos software version contains new and improved functionalities that provide new solutions, add valuable options to existing solutions and further increase the ease of use of Velos.

Nedap FarmControl

Identification

  • When using a Per Point Identification on a rotary milking parlor, with the "First ID placement behaviour" setting enabled. Only the first round of animals would be identified correctly. Afterwards no animals were placed. This has been fixed.

Nedap CowControl

Nedap Now

  • In certain cases, animal sorting results were not displayed in Nedap Now. This issue has been resolved, and sorting results now appear as expected.

  • When exporting data to Nedap Now users will now be notified when the there's a loss of connection during the export.

  • The export to Nedap Now would fail when a location that used to contain animals was deleted recently before doing the export. This issue has been resolved.

  • Fixed an issue where "Quick entry" was visible when viewing an External list in Nedap Now mode. When Velos is connected to Nedap Now, the latter is in the lead of all data and therefore Quick entry cannot be used.

  • When viewing the SmartTag fixation issue page in Nedap Now mode the 'Actions' button was visible even though no actions were possible. This has been fixed.

  • Velos will now perform the daily import between 22:01 and 04:50 rather than on 03:20. This was done for a more evenly spread load on Nedap Now and a faster import.

  • Fixed an issue where the Nedap Now import would fail when a SmartTag was already identified by a feeding station before the tag was assigned to an animal.

  • Fixed an issue in Nedap Now mode where milk separation could not be entered from the animal page. This functionality has now been restored.

Heat Detection and Health Monitoring

  • When an animal has been deleted from Velos. The animal's tag would be marked as "Muted" on the Tag Issue Page, this has been fixed. Be sure to check if there are muted tags after updating and if so, if they are correct.

Cow Locating

  • On the Maintenance > Behaviour components > Positioning beacons setup > Beacons page a toggle "Show calibration points" was visible. This toggle served no purpose and has therefore been removed.

  • Fixed an issue where a map could not be received by Herd Management Software by using the .NET integration.

Locomotion monitoring

Nedap MilkingControl

  • Resolved an issue affecting rotary milking parlours utilizing per-place identification, where animals were not correctly removed from their assigned positions at the end of a rotation.

  • Velos can now identify milking sessions with bimodal milk flow. This information is available on the Animal page > Milking tab > Milking > Text, where an additional column has been added to display bimodal flow indicators.

  • Previously the dead milk time was calculated as the time between start milking and start of milk flow. This was not always an accurate representation as the dead milk time depends on the configuration of the system (cluster up time, vacuum delay). Therefore it is not a value that can be compared over systems that are configured differently. The dead milk time is now calculated as the time between end of vacuum delay and start of milk flow, providing a more accurate and comparable value across differently configured systems.

General

  • Velos has received a refreshed look and feel. While the visual style has changed, all pages, menus, and navigation elements remain in their usual locations, ensuring a smooth transition and easy navigation for existing users.

  • Velos will now display a warning when an invalid date or value has been entered.

  • In the Settings > Roles and Permissions a user can edit the permissions that are enabled to a certain role. However in a previous version it was not possible for a Service user to edit the 'General' permissions. This has been remedied.

  • In some instances an incorrect 'Database corrupt' notification was displayed. This has been fixed.

  • The Settings > Update page has been modified. Velos will now download updates on a random time between 22:01 and 04:50. You can still pick the time when the Velos and VPack firmware is automatically installed.

  • Velos used multiple terms interchangeably to refer to a group of animals or their location, such as "Animal group / pen," "Group / pen," "Location," "Pen," and "Housing." This has caused some confusion, especially considering Velos also uses the term "Production group". In order to standardize terminology Velos will now use "Pen". In practice, "Pen" effectively represents a group of animals as defined in the herd management system. Additionally, in the Nedap system, "Pen" can also indicate an animal’s location, depending on the context.

  • Nedap constantly updates the software to prevent security vulnerabilities. In this version some 3rd party libraries have been updated because of vulnerability: CVE-2025-48924, CVE-2025-53864, CVE-2025-5115, CVE-2025-58056, and CVE-2025-58057

Taurus

  • Fixed an issue with the DelPro import where animals would not be deleted from Velos when they were not listed in the import file.

  • The presence of bimodal milk flow in a milking session is now also included in the milking_extended.csv file. This file can be generated by running Taurus with the /milking_extended command.

  • The milking_extended.csv file now includes the attach timestamp and ID timestamp with second-level precision, formatted as yyyyMMddThh:mm:ss.

  • Previously, exporting activity data using the /activity command resulted in incorrect date & time values. This issue has now been resolved.

Firmware

New firmware has been added for the following V-Packs:

  • VP4102: v3.07.04

    • Minor improvements

System requirements

Velos version

  • An installation needs to run on version 2024.1.SR4 or newer to be able to update to this version. Make sure to update to version 2024.1.SR4 first before installing this version.

Taurus

  • When using Taurus for a DelPro integration this Velos version is only compatible with Taurus 2024.1.1 (5.147.25.0)

  • For all other integrations this Velos version is compatible with Taurus 2020.1 (5.101.7.0) up to and including Taurus 2024.1.1 (5.147.25.0)

  • This Velos version is compatible with Taurus 6.0 (6.0.0.62) for all integrations. Taurus with build numbers 5.x.x.x are deprecated and therefore it is advised to use Taurus 6.1
